The Boston Jr. Shamrocks U19 team opened the 2015 season with a bang this past weekend by winning the Cape Cod Storm Pre-Season Tournament held in Falmouth, Mass.

The Jr. Shamrocks began tournament play Saturday morning by battling back from a 2-1 deficit to earn a 2-2 tie with the Bay State Breakers. Gabby Decologero scored both goals for the Jr. Shamrocks. Saturday evening the Jr. Shamrocks overpowered the South Shore Conquistadors by a score of 6-1. Sarah Ryan led the Jr. Shamrocks with two goals. Laura Shea and Emily Froccione had a goal and an assist each. Jr. Shamrocks goalie Marina Mirabella turned in another solid performance, losing a shutout with just 22 seconds remaining in the game.

On Sunday the Shamrocks faced the Boch Blazers for a chance to advance to the Tournament Championship Game. The game was a nail biter with the action going back and forth all game. Shea scored the eventual game winner four minutes into the second period. The Jr. Shamrocks pulled together defensively to shut down the Blazers' attack with everyone making valuable contributions in all three zones. The Jr. Shamrocks goalie tandem of Mirabella and Cat Jordan combined for the 1-0 shutout victory.

In the Tournament Championship Game, the Shamrocks faced a deep and talented Cape Cod Storm team. The Shamrocks were led by Froccione's four goals, including a shorthanded goal to open up the scoring. In their fourth game of the weekend, the Shamrocks displayed heart and determination, digging deep and pushing themselves to finish the game and come away with a well deserved 4-1 victory over the host team to secure the Cape Cod Storm Pre-Season Tournament Championship for the second consecutive year.
