U19 Half Season:

U19 Jr. Shamrocks Continue Their Winning Ways At USA Nationals

The U19 Jr. Shamrocks faced off against the Armstrong Arrows from Kitanning, Pennsylvania Saturday morning in their third, and final, opening round game in the USA Hockey 2015 National Championships being held in East Lansing, Michigan.

Amanda Conway scored, assisted by Erica Lissner and Maddi Ricci, half way thru the first period.  Then Lissner, assisted by Emily Frocione and Conway, scored less than four minutes later to give the Jr. Shamrocks a 2-0 lead. The Arrows scored in the closing minutes of the first period to cut the Jr. Shamrocks lead in half to 2-1.

The Arrows scored at 6:18 of the second period to tie the game at 2-2. Then for the second straight game Jr. Shamrocks forward Conway turned into a one woman scoring machine scoring the next three goals to give the Jr. Shamrocks a commanding 5-2 lead with 8:18 remaining on the game clock. With three minutes remaining in the game the Arrows scored to close the Jr. Shamrocks lead to only 2 goals at 5-3. Jr. Shamrocks forward Lissner, assisted by Alexis Stanisewski, responded with her second goal of the game to give the Jr. Shamrocks a solid 6-3 win over the Armstrong Arrows.

The U19 Jr. Shamrocks (3-0-0) will now enter the playoff portion of the National Championships as the #1 seed and play the #8 seeded Cazenovia Park Lady Chiefs (1-2-0) from Buffalo, New York in a quarterfinal game Sunday at 12:30 pm. The winner will play the winner of the #4 East Coast Wizards (2-1-0) vs. #5 Sabre (2-1-0) game later on Sunday night at 8:00 pm in the semifinals. The USA Hockey 2015 National Championship Game will be played Monday morning at 11:30 am.
