Jr. Shamrocks Forward Amanda Conway Scored 5 Straight Goals To Spearhead Come From Behind Rally Win

The U19 Jr. Shamrocks faced off against the Princeton Tiger Lilies Friday afternoon in their second of three opening round games in the USA Hockey 2015 National Championships being held in East Lansing, Michigan. The Jr. Shamrocks took an early 2-0 lead on goals by Hannah Sullivan, assisted by Samantha Callahan, and Margaret Flaherty, assisted by Laura Shea. Princeton then scored 5 straight goals to take a 5-2 lead entering the second period.

It was all Jr. Shamrocks the rest of the way as they went on to score 7 unanswered goals. Jr. Shamrocks forward Amanda Conway spearheaded the Jr. Shamrocks come from behind rally with a one woman scoring show.  She scored a natural hat trick to tie the game at 5-5 after two periods of play. Conway then scored, assisted by Maddi Ricci, the eventual game winning goal in the opening minutes of the third period to complete the Jr. Shamrocks comeback. Conway capped off her scoring blitz with her 5th straight goal giving the Jr. Shamrocks a 7-5 lead half way through the final stanza. Margaret Flaherty scored, assisted by Lily Mallard, and Ricci scored a short handed goal, assisted by Conway, to round out the scoring and give the Jr. Shamrocks a 9-5 win over Princeton.

The U19 Jr. Shamrocks will play their third, and final, opening round game Saturday morning at 8:30 am against the Armstrong Arrows from Kitanning, Pennsylvania. The top 8 teams will then advance to the playoff round and play a quarterfinal game Sunday at 12:30 pm.  The quarterfinal winners play Sunday night at 8:00 pm in the semifinals. The USA Hockey 2015 National Championship Game will be played Monday morning at 11:30 am.
