U19 Jr. Shamrocks Win Opening Game At Nationals

Jr. Shamrocks Forward Alexis Stanisewski Outmaneuvers A Sabre Forechecker During Thursday's National Championships Win

U19 Jr. Shamrocks forward Hannah Sullivan, assisted by Alexis Stanisewski, scored the games first goal at 4:46 of the first period and the Jr. Shamrocks never looked back. The Jr. Shamrocks went on to score 4 more unanswered goals to defeat the Sabre from Bolingbrook, Illinois 5-0 Thursday afternoon in their first game of the opening round of the USA Hockey 2015 National Championships being held in East Lansing, Michigan.

The Jr. Shamrocks scorers were Hannah Sullivan (2-2-4), Emily Frocione (2-1-3), Alexis Stanisewski (0-3-3), Amanda Conway (1-0-1), and Madison Ricci (0-1-1). Jr. Shamrocks goalies Shelby McHugh and Antonia Gardner split the goaltending responsibilities. Both McHugh and Gardner turned aside all Sabre shots they faced to share the shutout victory.

The U19 Jr. Shamrocks will play their second of three opening round games this afternoon at 2:30 pm against the Princeton Tiger Lilies.
