U19 Half Season Jr. Shamrocks Open NEGHL Season With Tie

Monday, September 16, 2013, 1:21PM

The U19 Half Season Jr. Shamrocks traveled to Concord, Mass to play their first game of the 2013 NEGHL season. Solid goaltending by Jr. Shamrocks’ goalie Courtney Davis along with a total team effort allowed the U19 Half Season Jr. Shamrocks to come from behind twice Sunday morning. The visiting Jr. Shamrocks fell behind 1-0 to Assabet Valley. Courtney Kelly tied the game at 1-1 early in the third period when her shot from the point found it’s way past the Assabet netminder. The power play goal was a result of hard work and good puck movement.

The tie was short lived as Assabet tallied again to regain the lead at 2-1. The Jr. Shamrocks continued to battle and in the final minute of the game, the Jr. Shamrocks pulled their goalie in favor of an extra skater. Ashley Moran was able to break in alone and beat the Assabet goalie top shelf for the tying and final goal of the game giving the U19 Half Season Jr. Shamrocks a hard fought well deserved 2-2 tie.

The U19 Half Season Jr. Shamrocks will return home and play their next game on Sunday, September 29th at the Ristuccia Arena against the North Shore Vipers.
