The Shamrocks Under 16 team kicked their regular season off this past weekend, hosting a JWHL showcase at Ristuccia Arena. The Shamrocks played five games and finished the weekend 2-3-0. Boston fell 8-0 to Little Caesars in the opener Friday but then bounced right back later that night with a 6-3 win over the Washington Pride. On Saturday, the Shamrocks went 1-1 again beating Newbridge Academy 2-1 and then losing to North American Hockey Academy 1-0. On Sunday they lost a hard-fought battle to the Chicago Young Americans 2-1.

"The weekend started out with a tough opponent and a tough loss but the girls got better as the weekend went on," head coach Molly Corl said. "It was definitely very encouraging."  One thing that really stood out to Corl was the scoring balance the girls established in these opening games.  "A lot of players got their first point of the season this weekend so it was overall positive step that we took this weekend," Corl said. "The effort was better and the girls were able to put the puck in the net. Getting the first JWHL win of the season under our belt was definitely a confidence booster for the girls."

The Shamrocks U16 team will be back in action October 27-28 as they play two games at Warrior Ice Arena in Brighton, Mass. and another at Allied Veteran's Arena in Everett, Mass.
