Four months after capturing the Massachusetts State Championship by defeating the Mass Spitfires in Marlborough, The Boston Jr. Shamrocks U19, tier II team made its way to Troy, Michigan to compete in the 2017 USA Hockey National Championship. The team went 2-2 overall, eventually bowing out to the Quakers of West Chester Pennsylvania, but not before proving that they could compete with the toughest teams in the country.

In the opening game the Shamrocks took on eventual Nationals finalist, Ann Arbor losing in a tight and game 2-1. Brianna Jewett scored the lone goal for the Shamrocks and the team got solid goaltending from Kasey Libby and Marina Mirabella to keep the game close.

On Friday the Colorado Springs Lady Tigers faced off against the Shamrocks and discovered that the team was just hitting its stride. The Shamrocks got off to a strong start with Georgie Santullo, Marissa Gregory and Molly Flynn all scoring in the first period. The Shamrocks controlled the game for the next two periods and walked away with an impressive 3-1 win.

In the third game of the opening round, the Shamrocks found themselves in a must win situation. Needing a regulation or overtime victory to advance to the next round, the Shamrocks lined up against the talented and eventual National Champion, San Jose Jr. Sharks. The Sharks struck first, scoring on a power-play goal just 1:19 into the first period but the Shamrocks battled every shift and eventually tied the game in the second period. Marissa Gregory and Cassidy Connolly broke in on a 2-1 and Gregory's shot found the back of the net at 12:07. The play was back and forth and the score remained tied heading into the third. The teams traded chances and the goalies stood tall until the Sharks finally broke through 6:16 into the period to take the 2-1 lead. As time wound down, the Shamrocks found themselves on the power play as the Sharks were called for tripping at 15:06. After gaining possession of the puck, the Shamrocks pulled the goalie and went on the attack with six skaters. The Shamrocks were ferocious, surrounding the net and maintaining possession until Georgie Santullo finally netted the game tying goal at 16:14, sending the game into overtime.

The teams skated to center ice for a five minute period but the Shamrocks would only need 1:39 to close things out. Erin O'Brien scored the game winner by slamming home a rebound off of the rush. The celebration was on and the Shamrocks were on to the quarter finals.

Jenna Bragalone and Georgie Santullo each scored in the final effort but it was not enough as the Shamrocks fell 4-2 and a very memorable and enjoyable season came to an end.

This season saw the team reach great heights and earn solid victories against very strong opponents. From winning the Cape Cod Storm pre-season tournament on opening weekend to skating off with the State Championship on Thanksgiving weekend, their hard work and team first mentality sustained them
.
The team heads into the off-season for some much needed rest but also with an eye towards next fall. With a majority of the team set to return the Shamrocks are eager to begin defending their State title in September.
